And the Pet Saga Continues....

Argh! Okay, we were down two pets already, right? We just got rid of our two dogs. We were down to two pets, a parakeet and a rat.

Well, you see, Viva's parakeet, Reggie (he was oh, so vain...loved to perch and stare at himself in the mirror..got down right twitterpated to see himself) loved when our daughter opened her bedroom window so he could listen to and try mimic other birds. She decided she would bring him outside, in his cage, so he could get fresh air and listen to other birds. Well, this very tame, very friendly bird that was a friend to all in our household, decided to go touring and flew right out of his cage when Viva opened the door to pet him. He must have gotten confused or disoriented outside and didn't know how to stop flying or where to perch, so he kept going. And going and going and going. He is gone. Lost.

So, I decided to post an ad on Craigslist because I just saw that someone had posted a found parakeet right in our area and first thought it was ours. Then noticed the date was in April. That gave me the idea though to post our lost parakeet, in hopes someone would find him and, if not return him, at least let us know he's okay.

Hmph! This was one pet I always told the kids I could handle having forever cause, even though he was very vain, he was nice. And tame. And soothing and comforting to have around, warbling in his quiet (usually) way!

I hope someone finds him. Even if they don't return him to us, I hope someone finds him and feeds him. He's got to be hungry.

Oh, that's such a bummer! How long had she had the bird? At least 1 1/2 years, right? (Maybe that was covered in the post which I just read ... my short term memory is not very good!) The kids and I are all feeling bad about your bird loss.

I think she had him at least 2 1/2 years. I can't remember for sure but I think we got him either around her birthday time 3 years ago or in early fall 2 1/2 years ago. I think in the fall cause I kept thinking he was a bday gift for her but actually she had saved up money and proven herself to be a responsible pet owner already with the dogs so she got to buy him.

We got some helpful tips via Craigslist ppl....before we got flagged and removed...????....what's up with that!?!?! I'll post more on that tonight..if I get around to it. :)

Has he turned up yet?

No, not yet! I still keep my eye on the sky in case I see blue flying around. We've gotten some good tips on trying to find him...just had such of a busy weekend that we haven't had a chance to really go out and look. Hopefully tomorrow...

One lady said to look in area yards that have bird feeders (which would be quite a number of them around here). She said that she has had two parakeets turn up at her feeder and was able to locate the owners and return them. She said that if they find a feeder, they may hand out there since it's a source of food.

joven causes virus possibility, by the way .... i was just curious and was going to see who was offering you to see their site - there's nothing but ads there, i don't believe, but immediately i got a message that 'a threat has been detected'. better get rid of that person! :-)

how and when can i link up with you? did you get the checks? what tests do you use for your kids (homeschooled ones)? what (if any) curriculum do you follow? i was looking at a site yesterday that i'm going to check more closely, would/should cover the basics of lang.-arts, math, science, and ?? can't remember. but thought it'd be nice to have a bit of reassurance that the basic grade skills are covered at least in math and writing.

your house is still for rent here, i believe (the one in otalampi ... about 12 km, and probably 20 minutes from where we'll be living. doesn't seem it could take 20 mn, but according to google map it would.

and on and on i could go ... :-)
